Independent Peptide Testing
Every batch of research peptide supplied by HPLC Peps is tested in our UK QC laboratory for purity and peptide content. The resulting Certificate of Analysis (COA) is published and accessible for every product.
What Is Peptide Testing?
Peptide testing is the laboratory analysis of a peptide compound to verify its identity, purity, and peptide content. At HPLC Peps, every batch is analysed by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry to confirm it meets the stated specification before it reaches researchers.
Testing is carried out in our UK QC laboratory. The purity and peptide content reported on each Certificate of Analysis come straight from our in-house HPLC and mass spectrometry analysis.
How Peptide Testing Works
HPLC Purity Analysis
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography separates the peptide from any impurities or residual solvents, with the resulting chromatogram showing the purity percentage — the proportion of the sample that is the target peptide versus everything else.
Mass Spectrometry
Mass spectrometry confirms the molecular weight of the compound, verifying that it matches the expected mass of the target peptide, which confirms identity — that the peptide is what the label says it is.
Certificate of Analysis
The results are compiled into a Certificate of Analysis (COA) — a document that records the test method, the measured purity, the peptide content, and a verification key so that the result can be independently confirmed with the testing laboratory.
What Is a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
A Certificate of Analysis, or COA, is a laboratory document that records the test results for a specific batch of a compound. For research peptides, a COA typically includes:
- Compound name — the peptide being tested
- Batch number — identifies the specific production batch
- Test method — the analytical technique used (e.g. HPLC)
- Purity percentage — the measured purity of the sample
- Peptide content — the amount of active peptide per vial
- Verification key — a reference to confirm the result with the testing laboratory
A COA is the primary way a researcher can verify that a research peptide has been tested and meets its stated specification, so we publish a COA for every product — you can view them on our lab results page or on each individual product page.
